The Cape Cod Canal is a 17.4-mile navigable waterway operated and maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District. It travels from Buzzards Bay to Cape Cod Bay and is part of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Construction began in June 1909 and was actually not completed until 1916.
