UNITED STATES: AE medal, ND [ca. 1862], GW-498, Baker-195-1, PCGS graded MS65 BN, 29mm bronze medal in the Headquarters Series-number 1 Harlem with 3rd obverse by George Hampden Lovett (misattributed as GW-490 on label), uniformed bust left of Washington with border of alternating shields and stars // front view of building with designer's initials below and HEADQUARTERS AT HARLEM, N. Y. 1776 * No. 1 * around, hints of red, plain edge, RRR. According to Musante, the shields and stars obverse is the rarest of the three varieties of the Lovett Headquarters series. Perhaps as few as 3 pieces struck.
