Reiner for Medallic Art Company, facing uniformed busts of Grant and Lee, turned slightly inward, with ULYSSES S. / GRANT below his bust at left and ROBERT E. / LEE below his bust at right, with LET US HAVE PEACE - CONSCIOUSNESS OF DUTY FAITHFULLY PERFORMED around each obverse // Union and Confederate soldiers standing facing, turned slightly inward, each with rifle and supporting Union shield, with book below with "1861-1865" on spine, eagle with outstretched wings above holding arrows and branch in talons, with 36 stars around, and "THE CIVIL WAR CENTENNIAL COMMISSION - 1961-1965" around all, a few tiny reverse spots on the bronze; silver medal has 4+ ounces of silver, in custom Capital Plastics holder, partial medal number "013" visible on edge of silver medal, Choice Unc.
