UZBEKISTAN: 3-coin pattern set, 1994, official 'pattern' set in original case of issue commemorating the 3rd Anniversary of Independence, set includes: 1 som KM-Pn1 Muhammad Taragay Ulugbek (1394-1449), 10 som as KM-7 Amir Temur Haykali (Tamerlane Statue) in Tashkent, 100 som KM— Go‘ri Amir Ma'kbarasi (Gur-i Amir or Tamerlane's Mausoleum) in Samarkand, all likely struck in gilt bronze, reeded edges with Latin script, Proof, RRR. On July 1st, 1994, a second som currency was introduced at a rate of 1 new som = 1,000 old som. Two series of coins have been issued for the second som. They can normally be distinguished by the script used for the Uzbek language. The first series was written in Cyrillic script, while the second series is written in Latin script. These 'pattern' coins have O'zbekiston Respublikasi around national arms on each obverse which differs from circulation coinage which has O'zbekiston Markaziy Banki around in Latin script. This 'pattern' series is unsual in that they are in the first series of the second som, but not in the Cyrillic script. This is the first set of these we have seen on the market.
