VENEZUELA: AR 2 reales (macuquinos) (4.46g), "931", Cr-13.2, Caracas Provisional issue during the rebellion against the Spanish authorities, Fine to VF, RRR. Recent research tentatively assigns this type to the issues of Viceroy Montalvo in Santa Marta, ca. 1813. All versions of this type bear mythical dates, of which 931 is amongst the rarest, still unlisted by KM. It is believed that only about 7 or 8 specimens of this date are known to exist. A similar specimen, apparently from the same dies, graded VF30 by NGC, sold for $1700 at Heritage Auction 3037, Lot 30839.
