VIET NAM (SOUTH): Vietnamese National Guard TPVN, AR badge (15.08g), ND (1947-49), 53x29mm silver and enameled badge of the Viêt Binh Doàn (Vietnamese National Guard TPVN), rectangular shield charged with the arms of Vietnam in yellow and red enamels and the legend VIET BINH DOAN above and TIEU DOAN VO TANH below, with dragon supporting all with a red sun-emblem in its mouth // two lugs (for suspension) with DRAGO PARIS NICE and 43,R OLIVIER METRA around rectangle with lined symbols, possibly only silver-plated, EF, RR. On April 12, 1947, the Bào vê quân (BVQ, Defense Force) was founded in Hué. In 1948 it was renamed Viêt binh doàn (VBD, Vietnamese Army). We found no examples of these being in any auction and they are not listed by Daniel.
