VIETNAM: NGUYEN DYNASTY: Thanh Thai, 1889-1907, AV kim boi medal, Sylvester-2/B/2, 51 x 67mm, Order of Kim Boi 2nd Class, made with two pieces of repoussé gold, thanh thai nien tao ("Made during the reign of Bao Dai") // quynh dao vinh hay ("Fine jade is eternally beautiful) within central rectangle, flanked by two phoenixes and clouds, flaming pearl above, auspicious symbols below, lightly lustrous, attached at the bottom with multicolored beads, strung together with gold thread into a kim khánh-shaped pendant and four braids that descend into numerous strings of colorful beads ending in purple tassels, a lovely example, AU, R. Bôi, meaning "pendant", was an oval medal awarded to women of merit. First instituted in 1889, this type of medal officially only has one class, though in two different sizes, with the larger model at 6 tiên and the smaller model at 4 tiên.
