IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. WARRING STATES: State of Zhou, 400-300 BC, AE spade money (24g), H-2.170, hollow-handled sloping shoulder type, wu (a city in today's Shanxi) in archaic script, handle is filled with soil and clay as is typically observed, green and earthen patina, graded 82(03) by GBCA Grading Company, handle repaired and fragilely attached, VF, ex Dr. Dirk Löer Collection. Spades of this type are associated with the Kingdom of Zhou and the Henan area. Their smaller size indicates that they are later in date than square shoulder spades. Wu was an ancient city in the State of Liang or Jin in today's southern Shanxi.
