WESTERN KSHATRAPAS: Chastana, ca. 78-130 AD, AR drachm (2.39g), Fishman type 4.10(2) (this piece) (= Pieper-842 in the old volume, standard type: king's but right, blundered Greek legend around // hill over wavy line, crescent left, sun right, carefully engraved Brahmi legend around; broad example with most of the legends visible, VF-XF, RR. This type became the standard for all silver coinage of the future kings of the Western Kshatrapas (with a few exceptions), never used on the copper or lead coins. Soon afterwards, the SE date was added behind the king's bust, frequently off fan.
