IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. However, we have also reduced opening bids on lower value items to adjust for the new Buyer's Premium structure, so all-in costs are still very close to what they were in the past. This change in fee structure will allow us to continue to offer coins valued at less than $100 in addition to our higher value offerings. Contact us with any questions.
WESTERN XIA: Da An, 1068-1086, AE cash (3.2g), H-18.91, t-ha-h ray lee ndzen in Tangut script (da an bao qian in Chinese), Graded 80(05) by GBCA Grading Company, natural flan crack, F-VF, ex Dr. Dirk Löer Collection. The Tangut script (xi xià wén) was a logographic writing system, used for writing the extinct Tangut language of the Western Xia Dynasty. Tangut characters are similar in appearance to Chinese characters, with the same type of strokes, but the methods of forming characters in the Tangut writing system are significantly different from those of forming Chinese characters. There are only five coin types in Tangut script and all are very rare.
