YAGHLAQAR CLAN: Unknown ruler, late 8th century, AE cash, type #1 (4.06g), Kamyshev-34/35, Zeno-46641, Soghdian or Uighur legends on both sides, with the Yaghlaqar tamgha on the obverse, the word left of the tamgha is possibly the name of the ruler, but remains undeciphered; this piece is of finer condition than the 9 pieces posted on Zeno and the first to be offered at auction anywhere, excellent VF. Although the Yaghlaqar clan had been in the Turfan area of Xinjiang, China, they were forced west late in the 8th century. The coins are found around Krasnaya Rechka of Kyrgyzstan, in the Chuy Valley east of Bishkek and close to the border with Kazakhstan. There are two variants, types #1 and #2, which differ only in the form of the Yaghlaqar toughra, as noted on Zeno.
