YUGOSLAVIA: Alexander I, 1921-1934, AV dukat, 1931, KM-12.1, with sword between two birds and "I" countermark, a wonderful lustrous example of this scarce countermark! PCGS graded MS64, S, ex Professor Richard Haiman Collection. The countermark applied on this coin is now regarded as marking different sequences of issue, with the 'I' reflecting the quality of the gold. This newer research is in the article Yugoslav Countermarks on Austro-Hungarian Gold Coins by Aleksander N. Brzic, from the American Journal of Numismatics.
