YUTIAN KINGDOM: Anonymous, AE 6 zhu (4.67g), ca. 2nd-3rd century, Cribb-2/5, Sino-Kharosthi series, struck posthumously in the name of Gurgamoya (ca. 30-60 AD), horse right, Kharosthi legend around // Han Dynasty period Chinese inscription, standard Chinese character for "6" above, a remarkable example overstruck on a Yueh-Chi copper tetradrachm (imitating Heliokles I of Bactria), with much of the obverse king's bust clearly visible, some porosity, Fine, RRR. The Yutian Kingdom was located in the Khotan (Hetian) region in today's southwestern Xinjiang, China. See Cribb's articles in Numismatic Chronicle Volumes 144 & 145 (1984 & 1985).
